AbstractIn this paper, the ion cyclotron envelope solitary waves with a ''cigar'' shape observed by Freja satellite are reported and studied, especially, the drift of the frequency of the waves is contributed to the non-linear effects on the resonance frequency, which predicts that the frequency drift is directly proportional to the squaire of the amplitude of the oscillations. This result is comparable with the observations of the Freja satellite.
