AbstractThe presence of forbidden lines and the unusually strong H alpha r emission in the spectrum of 3G 71 (proposed optical counterpart of the Be/X-ray binary 1H2214+589), the large infrared excess in its infrared counterpart, IRAS 2248+6058, and the presence of an emission nebula around it all point to 3G 71 being a Herbig Ae/Be star candidate.
